Last 9th February, the English teachers organized some workshops on "Carnivals Around the World": Rio, Notting Hill, Mardi Gras and Venice.
As I said, one of them was about Rio Carnival. We learned lots of things about Brazil and we tasted "Brigadeiros", also called "Negrinhos", a typical sweet in Brazil.
Some children wanted the recipe and here it goes!
- 1 can of condensed milk (around 400grs)
- 4 tablespoons of pure cocoa powder (sugar free, the bitter cocoa powder)
- 1 tablespoon of margarine
- chocolate sprinkles
In a pot/pan, put the condensed milk and the margarine.
Stir while cooking at a low heat.
When the margarine is melted, add the cocoa and stir and cook for 10-15 minutes approximately at a low heat.
You know that it is ready when you swirl the pan and the mixture doesn't stick to the pot; it slides as one soft piece and you see a thick burnt residue on the bottom.
Put this mixture into a recipient and let it cool to room temperature. Then, you can brush your hands with oil or margarine and start shaping this mixture into balls and roll them on the chocolate sprinkles.
